John 10:1-5
1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
I found the
verse one very impressive because “the door” is remindful of Noah’s Ark and
“some other way” suggests us the false teachings and doctrines or everything
unholy. Jesus is the only way for us to enter the Kingdom of God.
Genesis 6:16 A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.
Genesis 7:16 And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the Lord shut him in.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
We are flock
that follows Jesus as our Shepherd. We are protected from evil by
Him when we are in the sheepfold. Then how is the sheepfold like?
My dictionary
reads as below.
sheepfold: an
area in a field surrounded by a fence or wall where sheep are kept for safety.
-Oxford English Dictionary
Sheep =
Christian
A fence or wall
= our faith in Christ
A field =
pasture with rich soil, good foods (God’s Word) and fountain of living water
(the Holy Spirit)
We can live out
holiness through our faith when we are filled with the word of God as our bread
of Life and the Holy Spirit as living water. Therefore now we don’t have to
sin!
1John 5:18We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
Moreover
because we are on the rich soil we can live righteously like Jesus and bear the
fruits of the Spirit and the fruits unto holiness.
Romans 6:22But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
There is no
other places than Jesus where we can live safely and peacefully. The book of
John teaches us clearly how to dwell in Him.
John 15:10If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
Leviticus 25:18-19 Wherefore ye shall do my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety. And the land shall yield her fruit, and ye shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety.
The Shepherd
protects us from evil by His blood, however, if we don’t obey His Word we
are not in the safe sheepfold.
Now will you
follow His voice or listen to the strangers and give up the eternal life?
Let’s follow
after Jesus the Shepherd Who strengths our faith as He is the author and
finisher of our faith!
God bless you!!
